Driving in Tuscany: Rental cars are available in Diecimo, Lucca, and at both Pisa and Florence airports. Driving in Italy is very similar to driving in the United States or continental Europe (although a little more frantic!) - and, yes, we do drive on the right side of the road! Most Italian vehicles have a manual shift. Also, remember that the Italian Autostrade (similar to the American interstate) are all toll highways - be sure to have some Euros on hand before you enter the highway! American visitors should obtain an International Driver's License - this can be purchased from any AAA location for about $15 and is valid for one year from date of issue.
